Theme for 2024

I really like the way Jordan Hirsch expressed the concept of a yearly theme as something you spend time with. Not a goal you crush (or don’t), or something you achieve (or don’t), or some outcome you create (or don’t).

Something you spend time with in your thinking and doing. I replied to Jordan and said this, of my own theme for 2024.

Move

• First, literally to move. I’ve been pretty stationary these last three or four years and my health is suffering.
• But also move deeper into my relationships and mental & spiritual health.
• And maybe move away from feeling that my corporate day job must equate to a singular purpose or some western version of ikigai.
• And move to an abundance over a scarcity mindset to maybe help me be ready to move away from the corporate day job in a couple years.

That’s a lot. It’s complicated and complex and not a goal. This way of thinking fits into my half-baked behavior change methodology I’m developing for myself. I’m calling it Aims and Actions right now. I aim to do this in the long term, so this is the best action I can take right now to get there. I’ll need to write this down to get it all out of my head.

Anyway, I’ll keep the word Move in mind in my thinking about my Aims and doing the Actions.
