RE: We need a physical digital music experience
I was a teenager when we went from Albums and Cassettes to CD’s. I lived through the Napster / Metallica stuff. I've mostly stream music these days in Apple Music and occasionally Spotify. But I want to get back to a library of mp3s (which I have purchased) that I can play on any device. It feels a bit like I’m moving backwards, and also connecting with the past. As well as shedding some enshitification.
Anyway, if you’re already listening like this, what’s your setup? Is there a music player app you love? Plex?
Also, to Olly’s point if someone can figure this out, I’d love a physical album cover to go with the digital downloads. Reading the liner notes on records and the inserts in CD’s was such a joyful experience back in the day.
Standardize the size of the physical item and let the bands words and art be held in your hand while you stream their music digitally. I’m here for that.
